Welcome to the Summer Season 2015!

Dear Members, Dear Friends,

Welcome to yet another season of The Austro British Society and the first one with the brand new committee.

The well liked Tuesday Club, alternating with Lynne, Hazel and Heinz, continues of course. There are talks with English themes. The now traditional BBQ returns to Birgitz, home of the Raeter Museum and other treasures. You will be updated in time if there is an ideal film coming either to Metropol or Leo cinemas.

The highlight of this season will be our excursion, with a difference. On November 11th 2014 Heinz Payr and Walter Klier read to us from WW1 diaries. Both Austria and Britain took part in WW1. Our excursion will take us to the site of the tragic fighting on Monte Piano where 14,000 soldiers lost their lives on the mountain, as well as to the well maintained, open air museum at 2,300m.

We hope you enjoy our choices for you,

Come along and join us

Excursion

Our Excursion will be on 28th of June

Our usual coach will take us to Lake Misurina which is on the road from Toblach to Cortina. A jeep shuttle service takes small groups of people up to Refugio Bossi on Monte Piano (2,300m). To be able to have a guide (German speaking), we have to go on the Sunday! If some of us do not wish to go to the top, or to the top straight away, Misurina is pretty for lunch by the lake and you may follow in the jeep shuttle later on. Refugio Bossi serves good food for lunch, coffee or whatever you like and has a panoramic view of 360°. If you do not wish to join the guided walking tour, you may stay at the hut and visit the chapel and WW1 museum nearby. The guided tour ( specially for us ) will take at least 2 hours to visit trenches, tunnels and other important places.

Please let us know very soon if you are interested and wish to join us. There is a lot to be arranged this year. hazelzeiner@yahoo.de

€25 deposit to secure a place into the society’s account, please.
